J. Rieger Limited Edition Holiday Whiskey Label

The annual J. Rieger Holiday Whiskey is a long-standing Kansas City tradition.

This design for the 10th edition label marks the first time the holiday label featured a nighttime scene. The focal point, a trio of silver foil-stamped bells, pay homage to historic illustrations from the brand's pre-prohibition history, creating a bridge between past and present. The result is a beautiful composition paired with custom typography that honors J. Rieger's legacy while catching attention on modern shelves.

Historic

Inspiration

This vintage poster advertises Rieger's original Monogram whiskey for just $2.00 a quart from its original location on Genesee Street. It features an old-school holiday bell, holly leaves, and a Victorian-era ornamental typeface.

It was important to capture the original holiday magic from the historical poster while making it feel relevant for today. The bell became the focal point of the label, with ornamental typography and holly imagery supporting the composition and reinforcing the festive, premium quality of the release.

For an extra touch of personal storytelling, the original founding date of the company was included as well as the year the company was reborn.
